Guaranteed Issue, Guaranteed Acceptance, No Turn Down Health Insurance and Guaranteed Renewable! No medical underwriting.
If you have been turned down for health insurance because of a medical condition, then a guaranteed issue, guaranteed acceptance, no turn down health insurance is a possible solution for you. These are limited benefit plans that are issued to anyone who applies and not subject to any medical underwriting. While these plans provide first dollar coverage, with no deductibles or co-pays, they do not cover all the costs of medical services, and you could be responsible for a large uncovered medical expense. Unlike a major medical policy, there are no stop losses in limited benefit plans.
Major medical plans usually have a maximum out of pocket costs of between $4,000 to $10,000.
Covered expenses above that amount are paid 100% by the insurance company.
A limited benefit plan may pay a maximum amount such as $8,000 per procedure or it might reimburse at a percentage of the Medicare Reimbursement Schedule. For example, in Center City Philadelphia, an appendectomy might cost $29,000. The PPO might have a negotiated discount rate of $23,000. Medicare might reimburse $9,350. The limited benefit plans would
either pay $8,000 or $9,350. You would be responsible for the difference ($23,000 less $8,000 or $9,350) or $15,000 or $13,650.
Now if you had no insurance, the undiscounted rate might be $36,000 and you would be responsible for that amount. For more details click here.
